Rich and Creamy A2 Paneer Kalakand: A Guilt-Free, Jaggery-Sweetened Indian Dessert

Traditional sweets often hold a cherished place in our celebrations, but finding options that are both wholesome and indulgent can be a challenge. Enter the Rich and Creamy A2 Paneer Kalakand—a dessert that brings together the authentic taste of Indian sweets with a modern, health-conscious twist. Made using A2 paneer, which is easier on digestion and packed with high-quality protein, this recipe swaps refined sugar for organic jaggery, ensuring a treat that’s kinder to your body. Its creamy texture and balanced sweetness make it a perfect addition to any festive spread or an occasional treat to savor with loved ones.

Course: Healthy Indulgence

Servings: 4 (pieces)

Preparation Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

500 gms A2 paneer (Indian cottage cheese), crumbled
½ cup A2 milk
¼ cup organic jaggery powder
½ tsp cardamom powder
A pinch of saffron strands (optional)
Chopped nuts (almonds, pistachios) for garnish

Method:

  1. In a heavy-bottomed pan, add the crumbled A2 paneer and milk. Cook this mixture on low to medium heat, stirring continuously to avoid any lumps.
  2. After a few minutes, the paneer will absorb the milk and the mixture will start to thicken. Keep stirring until the mixture becomes semi-solid in consistency.
  3. Add the organic jaggery powder and cardamom powder to the mixture, and mix well.
  4. If using saffron strands, you can soak them in a tsp of warm milk for a few minutes and then add the saffron-infused milk to the kalakand mixture for a lovely flavor and color.
  5. Keep stirring the mixture until it starts to leave the sides of the pan and becomes like a soft dough.
  6. Grease a plate or a shallow dish with ghee or butter. Transfer the prepared kalakand mixture to the greased plate.
  7. Spread the mixture evenly and smoothen the top with the back of a spoon or a spatula.
  8. Garnish the kalakand with chopped nuts, pressing them gently into the surface.
  9. Allow the kalakand to cool down to room temperature. Then, refrigerate it for a few hours to set.
  10. Once the kalakand is set and firm, cut it into squares or diamond shapes.
  11. Serve the delicious A2 Paneer Kalakand as a sweet treat during festivals, celebrations, or whenever you crave something sweet.
  12. Paneer Kalakand can be stored in the refrigerator for a few days, making it a delightful treat that you can enjoy over time.
